You could always duplicate your collection so you can have a copy at home and a copy in your car! This could be the start of something big(ger)!

OK, well, I've finally done it. I BOUGHT A CD I ALREADY HAD!! :o :o

This comes as quite a shock, for, I seriously don't do this,... and, especially this particular cd,... I'm dumbfounded. It's just a cheap little cd, but,... I already had it?? Whaaat??? It's the Wuorinen/Harvey/Peterson String Quartets cd on Koch, btw.

Well, didn't I find a cd recently that I WAS going to order, but then found. And now this. Wait, that was the OTHER Koch/Wuorinen cd!! :o :o

THAT does it. >:D >:D

And here I thought I was in the clear. ??? ??? ???

Having an 'extra' cd around is a CDCDCD trigger I hadn't thought of, but, right now I don't feel so good.

I think I will throw them in tomorrow's trash and be done with my folly. 8) It's the only way?
I managed to buy 2 copies of John Joubert string quartets, as well as 2 copies of Rozsa orchestral music vol 1 on Chandos, and I think it may have happened on other occasions as well, these two being the most recent.

Oh oh, is this first symptom of CDCDCD?, because if so, i might be developing the disease, i've actually done this two or three times, i've even been searching for several years for that OOP rare CD, only to one day find it in my own collection YIKES!, i would have snapped up a second copy.

But i ONLY have 1700 discs, that can't possibly be CDCDCD territory, i think i'll put it down to amnesia instead, yes that's it, i'm just getting old.

My CDCDCD has quite improved, but THIS is something new and disturbing. I don't see it happening again though.

What was especially disturbing was how I was frantically trying to find cheap copies. Had I spent anything over $10, I'd be reeeally trying to get an appointment with the shrink, haha.

And (OK, IT'S AN HOUR later and I don't remember what to say)...

One cd all year so far. And it was 'Required By the Rules', so, it wasn't really a choice, so, really, I have reached a certain plateau of acceptable listening each day, so I have no real need. No money either, and that's probably the only reason, though, my List is pretty well filled with pure vanity items, gilding lilies.

You'll be relieved to know that, at this point, I've listened to all of my Piston backlog.

Nope, not full price or I wouldn't have bought them. :) I've heard a little of the Chavez PC before I bought it and loved it. Can't wait to hear more. Plus, I'm a big fan of his music anyway. Too bad more of it hasn't been committed to record.

You held on admirably for longer than I originally had thought, but when you went bust you did it in style.

I have never thought abstinence was a good solution and currentkly don't buy more than I reasonably comfortably can digest. But those big sets are a bummer when they come along.

Thanks, erato. I'm probably going to hold off buying anything for awhile since I have so much coming right now.

Spotted a used CD store in my neighborhood and they're racially giving away a buncha great CDs for a dollar each (sometimes even for less!). If funny how classical music CDs are treated in these kind of places... It's like the cheapest product they have to offer, they'll even give some away for free to clear space... Pop music is being sold like hot cakes though. This might be the last time I give in to my CDCDCD. ))

Not sure how one "racially" gives things away, nonetheless I am jealous of your good fortune. It is hard to even find a used CD store around here any longer. :-\

Well, isn't it obvious? Using what passes for "reasoning" among the ill-educated these days: most people who like classical music are white, therefore classical music is racist. ;)

Re. CDetc: Looking over my Amazon orders recently, during February and March I avoided GMG and bought only 1 CD. Since returning less than a month ago, I've bought 8 titles, including two CD boxsets and one blu-ray Ring cycle.  :o  ;D

P.S. Sandra -- welcome to GMG. I don't know you and you don't know me, so perhaps I should state overtly that I'm not insinuating anything about you, just making a joke.  Nor am I insinuating anything about you by offering this explanation which probably seems unnecessary ... but I have learned that some people are so predispositioned to imagine insults and take offense that one can't be too careful.  ;)

I figured it was a typo, though I haven't guessed what Sandra meant.

There's got to be a joke somewhere with racially as a misspelling for rashly . . . .
