oh, you don't know how tempted I was to call this Hitler Ate Haydn's Brain! At least, that's the way I can see it in the National Enquirer.

So, how many of you know that two nether players in Haydn's life scammed their way to Haydn's corpse, cut off his by now decomposing head, and headed back off to the lab to do phrenology tests on Haydn's Genius Brain?

Believe It, or Not! :o

Please, check this story out. The details are truly the makings of the greatest Monty Python movie ever! I mean, seriously, this is new to me. Check it out.

Whoops, I'm on the wrong board! Can you move us to the proper location? Thanks.

I knew that.  0:)

I knew it too. All you had to do was ask. I mean, snips, don't you think it's sort of natural to question whether or not some great composer's skull had been stolen? Seems reasonable to me. :)

PS - it IS in the right area, unless it got moved before I got here... ?
Visit my Haydn blog: HaydnSeek

Haydn: that genius of vulgar music who induces an inordinate thirst for beer - Mily Balakirev (1860)

And indeed, this sort of thing seems to happen to composers all too often - cf. Beethoven's skull with Bruckner, Schubert's skull with both Bruckner and the phrenologists... I'm somewhat glad functional neuroimaging is all the rage now, instead. :P

You could have called this thread "Bring Me the Head of Franz Joseph Haydn!!"

Honestly, if Rob Newman had told this particular tale, I wouldn't have believed it, haha. But, after that piece of business, this seems anti-climactic, though still quite Faustian.

ok, I'll be perfectly honest. Whether I never thought of it before, or occured to me, or, for whatever reason, I never really knew that there was really a dark side of the moon until a couple of years ago. And, I remember being interested in astronomy, and taking classes. I guess when you ASSume,... well, you know. :-[ :-[ :-[

I still think the Dorf did it, haha! :P

You should listen more regularly to Pink Floyd. They are a quartet as well.

head cheese anyone?  boil the skull, remove the cooked brain, mix it with head meats...especially the ears for their gelatin...yummy.
my new restaurant will be called 'the conservatory'  where you may order delectable haydn loaf, burcknerwurst, etc.

David, I'd like a Prokofiev liver pate, on whole wheat toast.  And a coffee.

an excellent choice, brahmsian.  here, have some complimentary salome salami on the side.
