Ah, the Big One's comin'.

I wish I could decide where I want to be stranded, though my choices aren't all that. I'm not the biggest fan of not being able to go when I want, so I'm curious about how "crippling" this will be. I'm sure we'll beat the last one around December, but how long will some roads go unpaved? 40" of snow could prove to be just a bit too much for some communities.

I don't think I'm going to get around this one. Will I end up sitting in front of the computer ordering cds? :o oh, the inevitability of it all :'(.

Anyone get my Ed Sullivan. heehee?

Ed Sullivan?  I thought it was Lawrence Welk! ;D

I have procured a month's worth of food, sufficient wine, a new bottle of peppermint schnapps, and one of the last available snow shovels in Maryland.  I'm ready to hole up for the duration with hubby, the cats, and my various instruments that need practicing.  :D  If only the power stays on. . .  ???

The people around here (Oklahoma) freak out if there is even a hint of snow.  It was really nice last week to get a day off of work (and thus have a three day weekend) because there was a light dusting of snow on the ground. :)

Iust went out to try to get the snow off the satellite dish--a lost cause.  Snow almost to my knees, and it's just getting started.   :o  I have definite concern about losing electricity.  Maybe I should turn the thermostat up to 80 while we still have heat?  And then have a few more residual degrees of heat in the house when the power goes off?  My Inner Frontier Woman is going into survival mode.

In the pre-storm run on the supermarkets, the most popular items to stock up on are milk, bread and eggs. I have often wondered why this should be, and the only conclusion I've been able to reach is that we canot survive blizzards without French toast.

We started blizzard day with pancakes and sausage.  Got to keep our strength up! ;D

Saturday 8pm

Wow, that was such a great snow. I was out driving in it last night until it reallly started getting scary windy Shining-like.

btw- Haydn and Boccherini win out over Lachenmann in the Snow Music Category, haha. The HIP instruments and sound really work great in the blizzard!

Also, I was the only one diligent to keep the drive cleared at intervals. Just looking at what people have to deal with, it's just surreal. I believe we got just about 30". And the sunset tonight was awesome, with the snow ending and the clouds giving way at just the right time.

I'm at a friend's, and my mom's is unreachable just yet. And we have more coming Tues-Wed.

I usually shovel out every 4-6 inches when a big snow is forecast, but I couldn't bring myself to do it today.  I'll pay the price tomorrow, but at least the sun will be shining.  Maybe I can get a couple of pretty pictures while the snow is undisturbed.  I agree, it is beautiful.
