since nbc has fouled itself up i present this solution -

get rid of all dead-wood programming, restart the nbc symphony ala the philharmonia (a recording orchestra) and begin producing cd/vids with guest conductors.

Superhorn

Great idea, but this has about as much chance as a snowball in hell.
This would require NBC investing a heck of a lot of money, and this would be extremely unlikely .

No way. Maybe a reality show about orchestra musicians living together in a Hollywood mansion.

Great idea, would probably cost a heckuva lot less than developing more lame sit-coms or soap operas, but the days of commercial television programming intended to promote high cultural and moral values, rather than pandering to the lowest of both, passed long ago.

Hey, Dave...not so far-fetched!  Maybe you and I should develop a "Desperate Housewives" quasi-clone based on Blair Tindall's tell all, focused on L.A. and a new, charismatic young music director who's sleeping his way through the orchestra!

Absolutely not far-fetched. It's the only way they'd show orchestra musicians in prime time...or any time!

That would be boring because they would just practice all the darned time. ;D

No, the script would have them snorting coke and fornicating in no time.

And maybe even playing Ligeti.  It would be just sinful.  And very watchable. >:D

Not orchestra members, that would be boring indeed. What we need are opera stars, prima donnas! Penetrating the Ring even!

Which actors would you cast as Samuel Sanders and Keith Lockhart?  >:D

Just because the TV networks are loosing money doesn't mean that to loose money is their goal.  They actually want to make money.  Otherwise your idea would be brilliant.   :D
