I just heard he died. Sad news for mystery fans.

Indeed. Good writer, always interesting. So it goes. :'(

Oh, no ... I have read every Spenser novel, and many of the others. I was always hoping he'd wrap up the series, somehow --- death of Hawk, vengeance, etc. It would probably never have happened, but at least I could always look forward to a new Spenser every year. My favorite light-reading author.

At least James Lee Burke is still kickin'.  :)

According to the tweets, one more spenser novel, "Painted Ladies," is due out in November. Next time I'm in Boston, I plan to take a Spenser walking tour.

I must say I didn't like "Appaloosa." Too much violence and talking about violence and planning for vioence.  I had the same reaction not long ago watching reruns of Bonanza. After a while I just kept thinking, "What's the body count on this series?"

The Jessy Stone mysteries were pretty good.  Huh that's too bad. :-X

I love Tom Selleck in those Stone movies.

Yeah he was perfect! :D

We've never found a perfect Spenser, though. My ex and I have come up with several possibilities. I'd like to see Hugh Laurie do it, with Lisa Edelsteim as Susan. He might not have the build, but he does have the attitude, and those two need a break from the rut that is House.

Yeah, I think so.  ;D Max Allan Collins is a good starter author.
