EMI foreclosure

According to the Associated Press, Citigroup is close to foreclosing the parent of EMI, which is in default on a large dept.  What this would mean for the classical division is anyone's guess.

Hopefully a new company will step in which can exploit EMI's rich archive more effectively than the company has been doing so far (ultra cheap boxes released with almost no marketing to just select countries, for eg).

The seeds of destruction were sown years ago when it offered the likes of Janet Jackson $100M recording contract.  What planet did those EMI executives thought they were from ...   :o
