Andrei Eshpai's 4th and 5th symphonies on Russian Disc are excellent, but probably difficult to track down. Of an older generation Kabalevsky's Cello CVoncerto No 2 is his masterpiece and operates at a much deeper level than much of his other work. I like the much despised Tikhon Khrennikov's war-time Symphony No 2.
