With the recent explosion of superbudget (Brilliant) and budget (DG, EMI, etc) boxed sets, it is easy to forget that some labels are releasing normal-priced ones as well - cheaper than single CDs, but often not under €5 per disc. This price-level is interesting because it forces the buyer to become more selective, and often features rarer repertoire. It also allows the buyer the opportunity to actually listen to what they have bought rather than be swamped with CDs :P Labels that have released a lot are BIS, CPO, Hyperion, Chandos, etc. Some have experimented with releasing new issues at this price (such as Handley's Bax symphony cycle).

Maybe some folks want to share good ones and discuss lesser-known ones (the obscurer the label, the better)? CPO has released quite a sizable series of Hindemith - a 3 disc SQ cycle, and 3 volumes of orchestral works (6, 5 and 4 discs each). The CPO boxes are nice because they are the original seperate CD issues (with full booklets) in a slipcase, so you get the benefit of buying the seperate volumes for a lower price. The RRP of them isn't actually all that good, but often Amazon marketplace sellers sell them for less.

Chandos has a 5 CD box of Schoenberg's chamber music which doesn't get much press and seems very intriguing. Arte Nova have been quietly churning out boxed reissues, including this 7CD Strauss set mentioned in the Alpine Symphony thread, which judging from Amazon.com and uk, seems to already be out of print.

I don't remember what I paid for it, but the Arte Nova Strauss box was definitely on the budget end of the spectrum, like almost everything they release.

I did a quick scan of my box sets, and almost all of them could be called budget, except for Perahia's complete Mozart concertos, a 4 CD set of Mutter playing Mozart violin sonatas, and
a bunch of Harmonia Mundi releases--Rene Jacob's Mozart operas, Egarr's Handel series, etc.--several of which are really 2 CD sets packed in a box instead of a digipak or jewel case.  Those can get rather pricey, although even then some of HM's box offerings are relatively inexpensive.  LSO Live also has issued some of its recordings as not-budget box sets (a Haitink Beethoven cycle, another Davis Sibelius cycle, and some Berlioz by Davis are the ones I know of off the top of my head)--although these are not simply repackaging of the original issues (the Sibelius, for example, does not have the tone poems which filled out some of the original single releases).
If you allow 2 CD offering to be included, there is also Gardiner's ongoing release of the Bach Cantata Pilgrimage on his SGD label, which is issued as a book with CDs slipcased on the front and back covers, and rather pricey  ($18-20 USD per CD).
