Hello from Australia,
I am new to this forum, and I hope from time to time to add something to it. I have been  a classical music lover for the past 55 years, having collected thousands of LPs Tapes & CDs during that time, and I have a library of books dealing with music & composers. Having stated that, I am only an amateur in the music stakes, and although I possess no profound deep knowledge, I have heard alot of music and hope I can contribute occasionally.
The music I love most is the romantic/late romantic idiom, (symphonies),  & particularly the many previously unknowns who are slowly being given their time in the sun. I hate snobbery in music, and that was one of the reasons after all, which consigned many composers to the dustbin of history. Today, I hope, we are a little more appreciative & educated. For instance symphonies by Dietrich, Brull & Jadassohn have finally made the catalogue after languishing for 100 years in manuscript, and they are a revelation to me, at least.
As a lay person (& that is probably the majority of us),with a love of music, I hope that opinions from people such as myself, are as welcome as those from the musicians & musicologists, even if expressed in less technical terms.
Aurelius.

Hi aurelius, welcome to GMG.  Lots of people here with tastes similar to yours, and I'm impressed that you threw out names of 3 composers whom I've never heard of!  I think it's great that some of these smaller labels have committed to record composers who are as you say, previously unknown.  Anyway, have a great time here.

Welcome aboard, Aurelius - and, speaking for myself, you already have added something, I don't think those composers have been mentioned here before now, and they are completely new to me.  There's a section of the forum with threads devoted to composers - if it strikes your fancy, you might want to start a thread and tell us more about some of these composers who have languished in manuscript for too long.

Welcome. Although the site owner has defected for a time to Canada, he is an Australian and we have a couple of members I think who drop in from those parts. I hope you enjoy yourself and do let us have those opinions, we do like people with opinions.

You'll find us a very eclectic bunch here with a wide variety of tastes and experience. Nobody here does the elitism thing and everybody' opinion is welcome.
