Sad news about the death of this conductor. I didn't realise that he was also a composer. Saw him conduct Havergal Brian's 'Gothic Symphony' in London and always enjoyed his Unicorn Nielsen cycle (now on Regis).

I'll play his Nielsen 4 just to remember... :(

Yes, that is a fine version. I think that he was the first to conduct a complete cycle with the same orchestra (LSO).

Very sad to hear this news.

I still have fond memories of a magnificent performance of Nielsen's 5th at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester ..... over 30 years ago.        His complete set of recordings of the symphonies is the best available ..... IMHO.

His compositions are pretty good judging from the DaCapo concertos disc. Pleasantly cool neoclassical styled, always listenable.
