The folks from Classical Revolution DC are getting their feet wet in a number of different ponds these days.  Tuesday night they presented music with bellydancer at a gallery in DC.  Think that could broaden the appeal of classical music?  Time will tell.

Time has already told.

I don't see how combining classical music with something that the general public considers creepy, anachronistic and idiotic can do anything but reduce the appeal of classical music.

That video is a mess.  Bellydancers should "sizzle".

I'm not sure about "popularizing classical music," but I like the combination of Gershwin and belly dancing; a legitimate and rather beautiful fusion of two art forms with long traditions.  And Bulldog, there are many forms of belly dancing. :) (Full "disclosure": One of my regular performing gigs here in Denver is playing for belly dance parties.  There's a surprisingly strong dance community here. 8)

I completely agree.
Now I kinda wish I hadn't watched that video. Awkward, creepy, stupid, pointless, and didn't make any sense....  ??? If someone out there enjoys that, great, but ewww.....

Scarpia and Greg, your reactions interest me.  If you don't like something that's one thing, but I don't understand why you apparently got creeped out; I certainly wasn't.  What's creepy about it? ???

Completely false.  Bellydancing, creepy?  Really?  You've got to be kidding me.

Beautiful, sensual, exotic and sexy, perhaps.  But creepy?

Not sure how this beautiful art form could mix in with classical, but why not?  It served itself effectively in the 'Dance of the Seven Veils'.

Yes, but the lazy type of dancing does nothing for me.
