In my experience, anything by Feldman, Hovhaness, or Messiaen fills the bill.  Here are a few others:

J.S. Bach: B minor Mass, especially the Crucifixus and Dona Nobis Pacem
Mozart: Adagio for Glass Harmonica (especially if actually played on glasses!)
Beethoven: Piano Sonata #32, last movement; Ninth Symphony, third movement; String Quartet #14 in C# minor
Bruckner: E minor Mass, Ninth Symphony (other works by Bruckner do this too, but these are the ones that do it most strongly for me)
Sibelius: The Swan of Tuonela; Tapiola
Stravinsky: Symphony of Psalms
Gorecki: Old Polish Music

sofia gubaidulina's Hommage à T.S. Eliot seems to come from another place entirely, and is extraordinary imo.
