Oh yes!  An update removed the difficulty spikes though, apparently that wasn't a virtue of the game but a technical bug. :D

Lol, and I get why the boss had to be so tough, but there wasn't even a hint at how tough. The battle also wasn't hard, it was just long, but the reward of the ending was totally worth it. This is probably the best rpg of this generation of games.

It's also worth noting that it is the last classic western rpg of this time, perhaps of all time.  The genre has been transformed so much that it no longer resembles it's roots.  More current rpgs play more like action rpgs.

Anyone else looking forward to the Wii U? I'll probably get it once they get a new Zelda epic out (I hated Skyward Sword on Wii). Other than this, Assassin's Creed III looks good. Resident Evil 6 is another one I'm looking forward to playing. I'm still digging Rayman Origins. What a great, fun game. I'm also still playing Max Payne 3.

Are you sure you don't want to Facebook message me this question?

I am!  I'm looking forward to Zelda, and having third party games on the console, and finally having a 1080p console.  Those that are saying the graphics will be the same as the current gen 360, ps3 are idiots.  I've already seen preview material that demonstrates that the graphics on the Wii U is superior to the 360 and ps3 on Arkham City and Mass Effect 3.  But that does make me wonder how jaw dropping the next gen ms and sony consoles will be...

You make me feel better that I didn't wait for Skyward Sword before selling my Wii.

Awesome!!!!

I know, and they got their initial funding in under 5 days, which is so nuts. I'm pretty pumped to see an Arcanum-like rpg come to the PC. I also like how they aren't bringing it to the consoles, who seemingly cannot appreciate a good rpg (Here I'm looking at Alpha Protocol).

A true gem. And the next one looks amazing as well - I've had the chance to try the multiplayer on the WiiU and while I'm not that interested in the console itself, it was double the fun.

Aaaanyway, Steam is telling me I've already sunk 100 hours in Dark Souls? And I'm still barely halfway through the game :o It's the Ring des Nibelungen of gaming.

What game are you playing? Dark Souls.

Dark Souls.

Dark Souls.

Dark Souls.

Dark. Souls!

:D

Demon's Souls took over my life for a while and I'm sure it will again when I'm ready to move away from Metal Gear.  And then after Demon's Souls I'm sure Dark Souls will follow the same route.

Yeah, the next Rayman looks fantastic. I'm only interested in the WiiU if they release a Zelda game that harkens back to The Twilight Princess. Skyward Sword was the worst Zelda game I ever played. I disliked it so much I sold the game along with that stupid Wii Motion Plus attachment that is required just to play the game.

Finished Dishonored. You should too.

After getting the platinum in Metal Gear Solid 2 (time consuming and very difficult) I've decided that I've earned the right to take a break from that series for a while.  I've moved onto a task that is only moderately ridiculously hard (Maximo: Ghosts to Glory) and the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus collection.  I never had the opportunity to play Ico last generation -- it was always too expensive used due to its rarity -- so I've been very excited to try this.  Thus far it's great, though I do find the combat tedious.  The atmosphere is great, the scenery is beautiful, and the puzzles are fun.  I'm also very impressed by the way the game maintains a good pace and remains interesting in spite of being so minimalistic.  At this point I don't think it quite stands up to Shadow of the Colossus, but that's an extremely high bar to set.

By the way, Okami was re-released on PSN yesterday. :D

A very high bar most certainly. Shadow of the Colossus is one of my all-time favorite games. Thankfully, I caught it when it was released on PS2 the first time around and have loved it since the first time I played it. This game could very well be considered ground-breaking in it's gameplay.

Right now, I've been alternating between these three great games:

All three of these games are amazing. If you don't own them, buy them now! They are fun games, which is what gaming is all about. :)

I caught Shadow the first time around, but not Ico.  I've loved Shadow of the Colossus dearly since then and even have the soundtrack.  I certainly agree with you about Mario Galaxy but haven't played enough of Twilight Princess yet to make the call...and yes, Rayman Origins is on the buying list when I can get some money together. :)  By the way, if you like borderline masochistic, very old school platformer/action games, Maximo is available for $10 on PSN.  I've always felt that game (and the sequel) were two underrated classics (perhaps minor classics, but classics nonetheless) on PS2.

I've started it but haven't gotten very far.  Not enough free time.

I bought NBA 2K10 at Gamestop today for $3. After playing it for a while, I think it's enjoyable enough to not feel like spending the extra money for 2K13. Mainly I preferred the rosters during that time, anyways (the Magic were good a few years ago), and the graphics are still great.

Christmas and my birthday... hmm... Twisted Metal, Mirror's Edge, and Okami, perhaps? For me, those games will last all year.  ::)
