Ordinarily I'll go along with any poll in the spirit of whatever fancy moves the pollster. It's all in fun, no harm done etc. But this....is....the most ridiculous basis for comparison I can even imagine.....no, wait, how about the best symphony by a left-handed composer? If Beethoven's 5th was a color, what color would it be? Which character on Lost reminds you of Sibelius? Answers aplenty in the sweet bye-and-bye...

Now, if you replaced this question with Mahler, I bet you would have triple digits in the reply column before Saturday of next week.

Beethoven, I don't know which composers are left-handed, orange, and Hurley.

IF BEETHOVEN HAD A BLOG WOULD HE GET INTO ARGUMENTS ABOUT RELIGION OR POLITICS?

       WHAT DOES NUM LOCK MEAN?

Dvořák's is the best 5th symphony in F major.

So you think this guy playing Kramer the guitar in his avatar took the raisins?

hahaa, funny thread  :D
ubeliavable, Sibelius got only one (mine...?) vote?! >:(

wich one is the Mendelssohn fifth? If the Italian, then this is tricky... Also the Schubert fifth is sooooo charming and cute :-\

It's got two votes now.  I don't really like Beethoven's 5th all that much. Tchaikovsky's 5th is very nice.

Now Brahms 5th--there's nothing like it!  ;)

Easy questions.  The color would have to be fire engine red, and John Locke is Sibelius.

Brahmsian

I chose Tchaikovsky's 5th, with Bruckner a very close 2nd.

False_Dmitry

Prokofiev walks away with my vote,  but mainly because I've over-listened to Tchaikovsky and Beethoven :)

Oh shit!  I totally did not see Mendelssohn's 5th on there.  That may have influenced my decision.  :)

I voted Beethoven, because I really do love that piece. But if it had been his 4th (?!), then my '5th' vote would have gone to Sibelius. Like and admire as I do a lot of other 5ths, that one is (also) in a class of its own, from where I see it.

I knew it! I knew this thread would degenerate into seriousness.

That's not really me. I'm me. I've always been me. All other "me's" are imposters. You've (me've) been warned.

As of now, Ludwig is winning rather impressively.

However, I voted for Mahler.  Close behind him would be Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, and  Sibelius.

greg

Beethoven's 5th doesn't exist. Lets just ignore it.
Tied for 1st place: Tchaikovsky and Mahler. Nice.  8)
