I agree and it seems that no one is doing anything about changing this culture that carries forward into adulthood. This culture is pervasive among all ethnic and economic elements of society.

Yes, it is a most disturbing trend. This is a generation awash with unprecedented abundance and educational opportunity. While the American literacy rate (like most developed nations) is well over 95 percent, the average American can only manage to read about a single book a year. Given the greater distribution of both wealth and education in our country (combined with a growing population), our current state of intellectual lethargy is perplexing.

I also hate sarcasm and indifference.

Does that also include satire, Kullervo?

No, satire is an art, whereas sarcasm, to me, implies laziness and a fear of revealing oneself.

Well said, then. Just ask Swift...

I dislike the smell of paint. At the moment I have a paint-induced headache. However, I love the sense of satisfaction and achievement that comes with painting a room! 0:)

Put hald a peeled onion into the room and it ought to absorb most of the fumes.

A nice walk down by the river whilst orange oil was scenting the room seems to have done the trick! Thanks anyway Mike!
