if Brilliant were to reissue the old Finlandia recordings of Paavo Heininen's opera or Kimmo Hakola's first quartet, I'd be surprised if it sold more than a couple of hundred copies total.
Of course we're discussing Naxos here, but mistakenly citing Brilliant is quite understandable, for Brilliant has thrived on reissuing recordings whose production costs have already been amortized.  Heininen and Hakola might sell squat, but many of the recordings in Finlandia, Erato, and other Warner-owned vaults would probably be rather profitable if reissued--and Heymann is sufficiently astute that I'd be surprised if that consideration hadn't figured into the deal.

Edited to correct typo, mispelling Naxos founder/chairman's surname.

While production costs may have been amortized, Brilliant still does new graphic design, typesetting of any texts that came with the original that they might provide with the reissue, and of course manufacturing. They do this will names like Shostakovich, Schoenberg and Takemitsu, but I doubt they would do it for obscure Finnish composers.

Naxos, on the other hand, is always a surprise.
