Exercises. What do you like? I take walks/jog and bike. Sometimes I swim. Now I want to work on upper body strength: push-ups, grippers for hand strength.

I'm just about to put the PC to bed and head out for some circuit training.

What does that involve?

Why am I thinking of Jack Lint nervously cautioning Sam Lowry, "I don't want to be involved in anything unsavoury" . . . ?

If I knew, I'd be you! :)

In this case it means going to a gym where I workout on a variety of machines combining aerobic and strength-building exercises in a routine that gives me a total body workout with about 30-40 minutes of sustained, vigorous aerobic activity.  We also have a home gym with a treadmill, stair stepper, and stationary bike together with some free weights, a Bowflex, and an area for yoga, but I fell off the wagon after major surgery and spending money for membership virtually forces me to go to the club and get a good workout!

We belong to a club but I mostly use it for the treadmill in the winter. I might start sniffing around the weight equipment but am allergic to the grunting Neanderthals that inhabit that section. ;)

Squats (providing your knees can take them) I find essential for thighs/hips/gluteus muscles. Other than that I only do basic crunches and toning weights on a daily or semi-daily basis. I wish I wasn't so squeamish about public pools, as swimming seems to be the most effective full-body exercise.

Grippers are neat to use during TV watching, but beyond hoping that they may potentially ward off future arthritis, I am not sure why I use them.

I tend to be a supporter of Churchill in this respect: "No sports."
In German, there is the saying "Sport ist Mord" ('sports is murder' - makes no sense, but rhymes nicely  ;D). Well, that's what I tell my doctor when she asks me whether I'm doing sports ..
Actually there is one exception; I greatly enjoy playing tabletennis, but usually I do not find anyone who is willing to play with me..
Don't think, but look! (PI66)

When I get up I do about 50 push-ups and 80-100 sit-ups and that's it. And don't use elevator, living on the 7th floor.

I go swimming most days and enjoy long walks in the countryside.

1. Used to run in pre-heart-attack days.
2. After that, took a much gentler and more controlled approach, either climbing up and down stairs listening to music, or pedalling an exercise bike while watching a movie, opera, etc. The stair-climbing was incredibly gruelling, and so gradually the exercise bike took over.
3. Recently bought a bike, deciding that if I'm really going to do all that pedalling, then maybe sometimes it might be nice to let it take me somewhere.

No need to be - it was only a small one, it was 9 years ago, and was a timely indicator that as far as my job (and associated stress) was concerned, enough was enough - or it might be turn out to be too much.

I do physical work so that's exercise in itself. When I'm at home after a hard days work my main form of exercise is walking over to the garbage can to empty my ashtray.

Yes, but how far is it to the garbage can, Gaston?

Always too far, Alan.  :D

But seriously, I used to play a bit of tennis (although anyone who ever saw me play would have a good laugh reading that statement) and I used to jog daily for years. These days I settle for long walks in the forest.
