My 1997 Honda Civic.  Not a spectacular car, mind you, but as I don't have money for another car, I have a feeling I won't be seeing that Honda again.  Cop said it should turn up soon, but I kind of doubt it.

So sorry to hear.  Sounds like you had gotten a lot of use out of it, obviously.  Will hope for a positive outcome, and that the cop is right.  :)

Sorry to hear of it.  Oddly enough old cars are more attractive targets than new cars.  A stolen car can't be used in the US because of rigid requirements for registering a car.  So it will either be used for a joy ride and abandoned, or it will be cut up and sold for parts (higher demand for parts for older cars), or it will be sent to Mexico (assuming you're in the US).

I hope you live in an area with good public transportation.  It would be pretty tough doing without a car here in exurban San Diego.

The 1995 Honda Civic was the most stolen car in America in 2009.

I'm very sorry to hear about it. That just stinks. :(

Geez, Bri, you should have locked it up!   $:)

But Civics and Corollas are in the top 2 or 3 every year, and 10-15 years is just what they want. I know I was surprised to learn that. :)

Nope, bought it used a year ago.  And it does suck because in my work I use my car for everything (traveling recruiter).  Hope my insurance will come through, but not counting on it.

My son's junker car was stolen some years ago: the stereo and battery were taken.

I tracked it down in two days through various stratagems and found it in "the ghetto" on a dead-end street: the police were worthless.  They basically laughed and yawned at any idea that they would go looking for it.

Maybe you can track it down in a similar fashion.  Usually older stolen cars will be found dumped somewhere within a mile or so of where they were taken.

Thanks Cato.  It wasn't exactly a junker, but your point about it being within a couple miles may be worth looking into.

A friend of mine was searching his neighborhood in another vehicle for his car that had been stolen. He thought he saw it up ahead and tried following it through the streets of East Boston, but eventually lost it in traffic. When he turned around on a side street to head back home, he noticed his actual car abandoned along the curb.

I will let you all know what happens.  I have to figure something out.

That just plain sucks!!  Hope the insurance covers it (they should).
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Sorry about that, hope it'll either turn up around the corner or the insurance covers it.

Sorry to hear about your car.  My 99 Ford Contour was stolen (out of my driveway!) a few years ago.  A few days before the rental provided by my insurance company was to run out, I got a call from the police that the car had been recovered in the course of a drug bust.  The idiot teens who had stolen the car were still driving around in it, hadn't changed the plates, and were caught in a drug transaction--probably because the car tag was on the stolen list.   The car wasn't damaged, but there was a lot of trash in it, probably some stolen goods, and bits and pieces of "joints", so the car had to be thoroughly cleaned.  I was happy to have it back, though, because it would have been very inconvenient to replace it then.  I hope you get your car back intact, too.

I'm very sorry to hear this too. When I lived in London my old Mini was stolen but the police found it a few days later - I hope that your car turns up soon.

I think they recently discovered most of the Camrys weren't stolen. They just drove away on their own.

Car found!  Police called this morning and told me it was in a known ghetto area around here (Spanaway, Washington) where many gangs are located 15 miles away from my home.

Totally messed up inside with garbage and an oily spray sprayed on my dash and windows (to cover fingerprints, so the cops say).

Glad I found it.  Now to go get a steering wheel lock.
