If you select by country or region, what are your favorite cuisines?

3 votes per user.

A fun poll, thanks for allowing multiple voting choices and a wide selection.

I am not a huge foodie, but I really enjoy the platter style meals that you find in many Spanish and Greek inspired dishes. Spanish has a wonderful mix of many influences (land and sea) and I mainly associate it with being hearty and exceptionally flavourful but not too spicy, and Greek recipes offer many light or minimalist options for quick and easy lunches.

My third vote went to India because I am British and eat curry with everything.
Peanut butter, flour and sugar do not make cookies. They make FIRE.

Great poll!

It was a very easy choice for me:

1) Indian

2) Japanese

3) Thai

The problem with this poll is that I'll probably change my mind tomorrow.

I voted for:

1) Chinese. I've only been to China once, but that two-week trip was jammed with amazing taste sensations. London's Chinatown has kept me happy for 20 years, from the mass chow-down barns of Gerrard Street to the more nuanced eateries of Lisle Street.

2) Scandinavian. Rollmops! I love those pickled herrings!

3) British. If you think British food is all grey meat and soggy veg, you're a bit thick.

But I love Indian food. You can't beat a good curry.

My neighbourhood has quite a few excellent Vietnamese cafes; I'd hate to lose those.

Japanese! I love, love, LOVE sushi and sashimi.

So I might have to invent a new GMG persona and vote again tomorrow.

The only cuisine I won't vote for is French. The other half always pukes up after French food. I don't know why. Probably all those cream-clogged sauces. I love French food, but I'm sick of that 3am pitter-patter of feet to the bathroom followed by a hearty BLEURGH!!! as  another French dinner exits the other half's stomach and splatters around the pan.

Wafer-thin mint, anyone?

My favorite food is Georgian food, and Georgian wine, there's nothing like it...

Italian and Chinese for me. I can't really pick a third.

Despite being a swede, I'm not too fond of scandinavian food, or husmanskost. There are palatable exceptions, but not enough to merit a place on any list of favourites.
A legible handwriting is sign of a lack of inspiration.

I picked

  • Chinese - Kung Pow Chicken, General's Chicken, etc.
  • Mexican - Chimichanga, rice, refried beans, etc.
  • American - Chicken Fried Steak, Fried Chicken and of course a great Steak.
:)

I chose...

Italian
(N.B. Real Italian not American)

Turkish

Thai

My fourth place vote is Other: Texan.

Yes, Texas, home of barbecue...

...Tex-Mex fusion...

...and Gourdough's made-to-order donuts.

;)

This is not fusion, this is enchiladas en mole con arroz rojo, traditional mexican dish.

I chose mole because it is my favorite dish - but of course it is also one of the most authentic. For real "Tex-Mex," I should have simply posted any Mexican food with an inch of melted cheese on top.  :-X

Hollywood

I too chose American, Mexican and Chinese cuisines.

I love a good old California BBQ, especially steak:

Growing up in Los Angeles we would have Mexican food every so often:

And I love my sweet and sour pork:

Indian! Indian! Indian! This my specialty and we cook it at home (even though we have no family from anywhere near India - just love the food).  I would love to go on an Indian food cooking course some day. It's a real dream of mine!

Thai and Franch.

Italian is up there too.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

I wonder how may people voted for cuisine that wasn't of their own country?

I voted Italian & my ethnicity is White/British. Our cuisine is getting better but I'll always prefer Italian.
