"Infinity Plague" by Derek Johnson, the guy obsessed with Meshuggah.
Quite an awesome piece.

[Matisse] was interested neither in fending off opposition,
nor in competing for the favor of wayward friends.
His only competition was with himself. — Françoise Gilot

#564
A violin concerto published in 2019 by the famous composer of soundtracks.

I like the first movement and the finale of the last movement. I don't like so much the inner movements. What do you think?

Danny Elfman - Violin Concerto "Eleven Eleven" (2019):

Composer: Kalia Vanderer (a trombonist!)

Work: Recollections from the Shore (aka why the trombone is the king of the orchestra!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mM-fWA_NBVg

Yes, I am hyped - the trombone is easily the best instrument in the orchestra, but, it seems, that not many of them get into composing, so when I find one - I am in love - instant buy - well not instant, but when I buy next -  I will buy it all, lol.

Composer: Dana Joras (Lombard, IL - whoop, whoop!)

Work: Spring Blooms for flute (Emma Halnan) and oboe (Nicola Hands) from the Tailleferre Ensemble

This work is a true peach. So airy, floaty, and fluffy - it lifts the soul/spirit. It feels like a midwestern spring - truly comforting music. :)

Composer: Doug Lofstrom (Villa Park, IL - whoop, whoop!)

Work: Cabin Fever Variations for Orchestra (led by the composer, I believe)

I cannot say for sure, no or yes, but this feels like a vanity project.

Piece: The Gorgeous Nothings for Soprano, Flute, Oboe, and Piano

Now, that is quite the combo. Also, the soprano is quite powerful. :)

Live performances. That of Horizons is of its UK premiere, the other three of their world premieres. Maestea Leon's term as Composer in Residence ended this year.

Only one of the four seems to be available on Youtube. That performance was by the New England Conservatory.
