OK, then I can take your postings here as good suggestions :)

I'm not sure if their good suggestions but I certainly enjoy them. :)

San Antone

Don't know if this my favorite but I like it a lot.

Egon Wellesz: Concerto for violin and orchestra, op.84 (1961)

Easy for me. Not a huge fan of the genre (even though I play violin), but I went with Ligeti, Stravinsky, Berg, and Bartok (in that order, currently). However, I much prefer both of Bartok's two violin rhapsodies to his 2nd VC.
Beethoven's Op. 133 -- A fugue so bad that even Beethoven himself called it "Grosse".

Never mind that I'm about four and a half years late to this poll, but I just cast votes for only two on the list:  Elgar and Sibelius.

My unntallied write-in votes go to the violin concertos of Korngold, Rózsa, and Moeran.  (Okay, so I stuffed the ballot box by casting five votes, not four.)

I LOVE Bartok's Violin Concerto No. 2. Great stuff. The others you mention are excellent as well. Have you heard Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1?

Nope. If I have, I don't remember it. Is it the really depressing one? Maybe I'm thinking of his 2nd VC. My friend (a pianist) accompanied someone on it one time and said it was the most depressing thing he had ever played (though he liked it).

More scary than depressing I feel (no 2). And mournful, rather than depressing (no 1).
