Mike

I would surely be arrested.

Every so called terrorist that got on a plane in a foreign land recently, was ESCORTED around airport security.

The machines are radiation. Look up what happened to the "shoe fitting machines" of the past, and see what happened to all those shoe store people. The Gov said they were safe all the way up until the shoe guys started getting cancer.

Groping children and grannies is just SHOW. There are plenty of stories of people talking to TSA Agents, where the agents say that it is just for show.

IF, IF, IF,... even IF all this was true, and terrorists are "trying" to kill me, well, I'm not a pussy,...let 'em try!!! I can protect myself, and others, from,...ha,...put me up against ANY of the so called terrorists,...haha, ALL these guys look like little dainties,...

The only plane that blows up in the sky is the one that TPTB allows to blow up (for political purposes).

Of course, I know most on this Forum believe the Official Story, so, I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING.

I'm one of those "The Gov lies about everything else, why are they telling the truth here?" people.

George Bush is a Liberal in my book, so, there ya go.

Alright, let the excoriating begin. ::)

snyprrr

If a plane goes down, it wasn't by a "terrorist".

Brian, you need to revise your spectrum. It should now look like this:

the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

Well thanks snyprr, but I am still not clear why you won't fly. On the law of averages; that your Gov decides which planes to blow up, you are pretty safe. Hardly any in the last 20 years really. I would offer you long odds. The terrorists don't bother you, so is it the X-raying of your luggage? Will your jockstrap glow?

We don't go through full body scanners here, though I guess we may if we fly Stateside. It might give warning and show up my incipient kidney stones.

So I am still in the dark really. I see Brian has more work on his hands, poor Brian. He just wanted a quiet Sunday.

Security theater is a good idea up to a point. It works on the same principle as missile defense, by raising the cost of a cheap attack beyond feasibility and catching most of the morons. You can defeat it at a high cost, but not without drawing attention to your efforts to do so. That in itself is worth something. Who is trying really hard to defeat defenses? We want to know that.

I wouldn't be surprised of there are people who'd get back in line for a re-grope.
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Thread duty:

The logic of the "National Opt-Out Day" on Wednesday entirely escapes me.  Travel is heaviest that day . . .

QuoteThe pat-downs will also probably slow security lines. According to the TSA, the body scan takes about five seconds, with an extra 10 to 15 seconds for processing. Pat-downs take 1 to 2 minutes.

. . . and the cumulative result is only going to be delays and frayed nerves.

Giving up security procedures is not an option.

Bulldog

When I see on tv a little old white woman getting scanned and/or pat-down, I know that the nuts are running the asylum.

Airline travel used to be cool.  In recent decades, we are being increasingly treated as a "herd".  Now, we're not even a trusted herd.

Maybe I was sypup-tish-osly trying to recuse myself from the argument, so that I could just see what ya'll would say? Didn't work, did it?

Who said, "They who give up rights for security deserve neither."?

I would much rather have the odd airplane go down,... which, of course, it won't. I say again, All the so-called recent terrorists were escorted arooound security in the country of origin. The US, hm, "security" procedures have nothing to do with the REALITY of any kind of threat whatsoever.

The mere fact that you are seeing children and grannies frisked should be proof enough for you that this is all THEATER! Any of you who don't understand this here concept of COMMON SENSE- that kiddies and grannies didn't change overnight (watch- the next "terrorist" will be a kiddie or grannie)- and that are for this kind of treatment- are just absolute cowards, IMHO, of course! ::)

As a Free Individual I say that I would rather have your precious brood fall from the sky than to have my Constitutional Right Against Unlawful SEARCH taken away.

All you pro-cavity search people,... your female loved ones should be the first in line. Just sayin'. :-* >:D

THE MACHINES WILL CAUSE CANCER.

I know,... you're shocked.

What's really shocking is that you believe the lying govs position (and the scientific community in thrall to research $$$) that these machines won't do exactly what those shoe-Xray-machines did. The science is in its infancy here, and they will tout its safety until the first cases of TSA Agent Cancer begin appearing.

We'll see. If I'm wrong, then I'm just a cranky jerkoff, ...no sweat to me, right?

And, you all, whomever you may be, who joke about this, I ask you, Why are you so open about your wanting some perfect stranger to grope you (I mean, that IS what you are alluding to, that it's been sooo long since someone touched you, that you just want some human contact)? Isn't that kind of creepy for people, in jest or not, to say that about themselves?

btw- I flew all my life across the Atlantic. Last plane was @1998. Personally, loved flying. As of today, for the purposes of this Thread, I won't fly simply because of this recent stupidity.

Haha, and I predicted that Krauthammer was gonna be FOR these procedures, haha,... what waaas I thinking?? Seeing who is siding on which side is very illunimating here. Of course, if I use the "I"-word, we all know what will happen, so, I never did that.

Poop, poor Americans. Watching the last remaining vestiges being taken from their morbidly obese little fingers. Not "slipping",... being TAKEN, because they CAN be taken away. The Chinese titter. Israel titters.

In the lingo of the day, "The terrorists have won." How have "they" not?

And, who really BENEFITS from all this? Did you know former Homeland Sec Chertoff has $$$ invested in the screen machines??? Hmmm??? Chertoff,...right, the guy with the dual citizenship,... right,...

I am reminded of a certain National SOCIALIST Party.

I remain Unaffiliated.

Now you have replied and I really must thank you for that stream of consciousness.

Yesterday in the UK 'Sunday Times' there was an item about random body scanning at Heathrow. Again I am not clear whether it is only invoked for flights to specific places, but it did sound like an odd process. Like standing in a tanning unit and turning around with your hands above your head.

The pilots' union has advised members not to go through the scanner. However, I am not aware of flight staff having to. I assume there will be odds for the chance of being picked, but random sounds like an strange way to do it, unless the random element is supplementary to the sensible profiling way of going about it.

As to 'groping'....you have quite an odd idea of what this constitutes: patting and an electronic wand has been my regular experience and often, noting at all as long as I don't set the alarm off.....my moist places have never been mauled. So, anyone really wanting to be groped had best stand in an altogether different line.
