I don't interpret it that way at all.  The issue is "why tell us someone died and not bother to tell us who?"

As I say, for whatever reason, Guido didn't do that, he forgot to do that, or he assumed that a few people would know who it was and that no one else would be bothered. I don't know, but I do know that he wouldn't have meant any of this nonsense. He misjudged in two ways - 1) hardly anyone here knew who Brian Jordan was, just me by the look of it and 2) some of those who didn't were bothered, enough to post their displeasure, for some reason. All I can say is that I was genuinely a bit upset to see this man who I liked, who was a very gentle, generous, decent and old-fashioned man, spoken of in this kind of internet squabble-ish context which was so foreign to him. Ho hum.

Maybe were discussing someone else, for instance one of the thousands of Brian Jordans that did not die.  The string "Brian Jordan" gets almost 100,000 hits on Google.   0:)
