I came upon several Beethoven's compositions that have elements he also used in his Symphony No9, but not sure if those are all, or if there are more examples of tunes that he later used in Ninth.

Music that contains themes later used in Ninth would be:

* Choral Fantasy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYMsfOmcStQ is similar to Ode to Joy. The tune can be dated back to song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j68JIwWcyJQ - go to 2min 55sec

* Which is more, part at 0min 38sec of the song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j68JIwWcyJQ) reminds me of first movement of the Ninth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hg5vABFHgpU at 0min 24sec.

* Part of Namensfeier Overture in C major, Op.115 - from 1m on  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWIadVpxlDE sounds similar to me to various parts from 3rd movement of Ninth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kV7pV4MzJIE  .

I might be seeing (hearing) something that isn't there, but there might also be things that I didn't see, so if anybody has any other info linking Ninth to some earlier compositions of Beethoven (or even somebody else), please share!

The Choral Fantasy is my favorite LvB composition....and quite possible my favorite piece of classical music.   I recognized the 9th in it the first time I heard it.  Here is my favorite recording of it:

There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

There's a point in the second movement of the piano sonata Op 111 where you can hear "Freude, schoner Gotterfunk..." and then it trails off.

You can hear it at 1:11-1:17 in this YouTube video.

Thank you!

I have also noticed that part from 2:00 to 2:15 of sonata you linked is similar to begining of the second movement of Ninth: starts at 5 sec http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWaouJ6ufLE

This extends my list of previous works related to Ninth.
