I notice that the site has in its recent articles a Notable deaths of 2010 - 64 of them in fact. They're just bursting with New Year spirit.

Wow.  Given all the sports and movie folks included, it seems as if the most important people in our society are entertainers.  Come to think of it, even the political figures included are probably best understood as entertainers, too, for as Frank Zappa once noted, "Politics is the entertainment branch of industry."
