I just stumbled upon this music and man, is it right up my alley! Especially the piano based instrumental work. Wasn't he just so hopelessly out of fashion for the better part of his career, but in the best possible way? It's like the 2nd Viennese school never happened! Don't get me wrong, I like some of that stuff, but don't like the way composers like Schoenberg and Boulez shouted everyone else out of the room. It was like, at the turn of the previous century the French school represented the cutting edge for a brief moment... we can't have that!

Thanks for bumping this thread, I updated the title to show that he died in 2022. (Aged 99 - may we all be so lucky.)
