Once more into the breach!!!

As retired cannon fodder, how can I resist that call to arms?  ;D

Personally i wouldn't exactly look for intellectuality in a sitcom, but if i had to pick a show under such a criteria it would have to be Seinfeld.

The only problem with Fawlty Towers is that it ran for only twelve episodes.

I need to get watching. Funny thing, few episodes as there are, there's one I've chanced to see maybe four times over the years.

I love the fact that Jn Cleese got the idea for the show from an actual experience …

Yes, you must get watching, Karl. Given your love of Monty Python, I'll very surprised you haven't seen Fawlty yet  :o

The Many Loves of Doby Gillis 1959-63

The second thing to notice about Tuesday Weld is that she was very good, obviously a great talent with a bright future. She seems to have sabotaged her career by turning down the lead roles in Rosemary's Baby, Bonnie and Clyde, Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice and True Grit.

I think she turned down Kubrick's Lolita too. She had no interest in being a "star" but there were some interesting roles in good films: The Cincinnati Kid, Pretty Poison, I Walk the Line, Lord Love a Duck, Who'll Stop the Rain. Her small part in Once Upon a Time In America is, uh, memorable.

But she'll always be Thalia Menniger to me  8) Vidcaps from Caper at the Bijou, the first Dobie Gillis episode:

You absolutely must watch Coupling Sarge-- you'll love it!!  I know you will!

The Coupling DVDs arrived yesterday. I watched the first episode immediately, and then saw it again with Mrs. Rock after dinner. And you're right, David. I love it...so far, anyway   :)
