We can live with your opinions, we can't live with your "facts."

Fair enough. I would like to offer facts to the world but it seems opinions is all I can give.  ;) That's the destiny of most people.  :'(

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

With this thread 71dB is bringing up all the crap that led to his reduced enjoyment of classical music.  Why he wants to dredge it all up again is anyone's guess.

Poju, why do you take an internet forum and the opinions expressed therein that seriously as to lose your happiness and self-confidence? You like what you like period.

My classical-music-knowledgeable friends have absolutely no use for Baroque or Belcanto. Do you think I've lost my sleep at night because of that? On the contrary, it has only increased my love for them and made me discover new and wonderful composers and works.  :)

Relax, Don.

A real Bulldog should not worry about that.

I'm relaxing at the moment, although I need to go out and pick up some flowers, a couple of tenderloin fillets and a fine bottle of red wine for a romantic supper.  It isn't hard to figure out what will happen next. 8)

Whilst listening to Helmut Walcha in Bach's Kunst der Fuge, I'll help you with the first step:

Happy Valentine everyone!

A romantic evening of listening to the Goldberg Variations?

No way!
Listening to Helmut Walcha's performance of Die Kunst der Fuge is much more romantic!

My bet is on passing out on the sofa in a drunken stupor while watching The Antiques Roadshow;)

It's perfectly natural for people to be interested in how different musicians perform the same work.
Comparisons are often fascinating. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. This has been going on for centuries.
And it  would be awful if every musician performed a work the same way. There is no one "definitive" performance of a work and there never will be. Even composers have been known to perform their music differently over the years, either conducting or on the piano etc.
Gielgud and Olivier were vastly different as Hamlet. Or other Shakesperean roles. Which one was right? Which one better? Who is to say?  Two different musicians may perform a work differently, and both interpretations can be equally valid.

Not likely, since 10 shots of vodka doesn't reduce my vitality (and I'm gonna need that vitality tonight).

This thread just got fast.

Given where it started, there wasn't much room for improvement.

I like that so many of us here are kind enough to keep one another honest in a collegial way, for the sake of better understanding one another.  It's nice to be among friends who are willing to correct us or challenge our prejudices and thus help us to learn and grow.

I like this post.
