This seems like the best forum for this question. I am looking to record my guitar playing (acoustic) onto a digital recorder (so multi-track not a worry). My budget is £150 and needs to be Mac compatible. Preferably should record to a nice easy format (WAV, mp3). Built in mic quality should be good but not essential as I can always buy a dedicated one. Any advice from people who have such a set up would be great, thanks

I bought Olympus LS-5 recorder half a year ago and I have been very happy with it's performance. It's just within your budget or few bucks over.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

I have noticed electronic stores like best-buy have a large collection of those, and most make very clear recordings. Just in the past few years their capacity has increased dramatically and the prices have dropped. I bought an RCA recorder for about $60 and it's amazing how good it. For $150, you're guaranteed to get what you need.

Very happy with a Microtrack II which I picked up a couple of years ago.

Well no more tape decks then huh?  I think I'm a little behind the times! :D
