I just found a great resource for rare and OOP CDs:

The above link appears to be the greatest single resource that I have ever seen, with links to services, labels and stores that specialize in rare and OOP CDs.

For those who aren't in the know, the below link is for Parnassus. I used them recently to locate a very hard to find CD. They had it and it was very cheap, too! The man on the phone told me that this was not the usual, but that their service specializes in finding OOP and hard to find CD's. You can request that they find you a given CD or you can use the second link to search for existing inventory elsewhere. I haven't used this very much so perhaps folks who have could clarify if I'm not correct?

One of the hardest to find is the Richter in Leipzig recital which I noticed was selling second hand on Amazon for $999.00. Music and Arts could put an end to this by simply reissuing the recording.

Yes, you'd think that with all of these reissues of items that were already in print, the labels would have the time and sense to do so.

I'm guessing the smallish label M&A is like Pearl, in that things that come out don't stay out for long and then don't re-appear?

Perhaps one day we'll see it on Archipel or Brilliant?

I called Parnassus yesterday and they told me that the two links above are for two completely different companies. they recommend using the second one first (CD Trackdown), as that company can often get things that no one else can. Then if CD trackdown can't get it, you can ask for Parnassus to look for it for you, as they get "hundreds, even thousands of CD's per year." Then, they'll notify you when they've found it. You can also search their 3 or 4 catalogs for what you want. They publish one about every month and they are all different. Like I have said, I've used their service and was extremely happy with the results. They are a small company and are glad to answer your questions, you can even talk to the webmaster if you'd like when you call.

There is also the possibility to keep items you bought in storage and ship them later with other purchases.

No experience with CDtrackdown however.

Few weeks ago one copy was sold on ebay for around $55.
