Pad Thai VS. Pho

I can't really get good Pad Thai in the states, so I'd need to get Pho.  best Pad Thai I've had was in Thailand near the Cambodian border, but even in Bangkok it wasn't as good.

Best Pad Thai I ever had was in Cairns, Australia, near the water. It came in a veritable birdbath but was so achingly good that I slow-dined on it for an hour and made my family wait for me to finish.

Pho I do like quite a bit, though I have to be in a certain mood. I think my ranking is

1. Great pad thai
2. Great pho
3. Okay pho
4. Okay pad thai

Tragically, the very best Pad Thai I had was the version my wife made-- never too sweet or sticky, lots of Siracha sauce, but after a couple years of marriage she stopped making it. 

The stuff I had in Eastern Thailand was in a night market, and a generous platefull cost the equivalent of 80 cents USD.

Pad Woon Sen is also very good...

And the Banana option is definitely needed here.

Oh, man.
The good stuff here in London can cost $14 USD for a plate. If I knew of some kind of Thai immigrant dive I would love to barrel in and try everything.
