Either Schmidt or Hartmann could be the last one elevated...

No, it's a fine list, but with some glaring omissions. That can't be helped.  :)

Such as?

Arguably two of Vaughan Williams's best symphonies aren't there, Nos. 4 and 6, Mozart's Symphonies 34, 35 and 36, Stravinsky's Symphony in C and Symphony in Three Movements, Roy Harris's Third Symphony, Carl Nielsen's Sixth, Hartmann isn't there with his Sixth, nor is Tubin with a symphony or two (Nos. 4 and 6 would have been my choice). And Magnard's Third would have been nice, too.

I would have selected several of those before some of the ones that made the list--but then it would have been a list of my favorites, not GMG's.

Well, this list is a combination of the favourites of everyone who took part. That's why those two Brian symphonies are there! And Nielsen's Fifth and Magnard's Fourth (though a few others endorsed them, too).

Yep.  I would not have endorsed Brian.  And all of Nielsen's might have made my list.  But at least our cellmates got all of Beethoven, Sibelius, and Mahler right!
