Hi Vesteralen - welcome to GMG. And no need to keep a low profile unless that's your preference; there are all kinds of people here, with profiles ranging from those who are almost nonexistent, to those who post many times each day.

Anyway, enjoy yourself!

Oh hi there!  I thought I recognized you.  I'm haydnfan over at TC.  I would be haydnfan over here, but everyone keeps confusing me with haydnguy. ::)

Welcome to gmg! :)

I was in Vienna two years ago.  It was really, really hot that summer.  How's your weather this summer?

About forty years ago, I read an article about the Lofoten Islands in a travel/culture magazine, and decided that someday I wanted to go there.  Alas, I haven't made it yet.  But, I'm still thinking about it and hoping.

Anyway, "Lofoten" didn't seem like a good user name to me, so I opted for "Vesteralen" instead.

So, in answer to your question...yes.   ;D

I love the light and colors of the North Atlantic coasts and islands, and I am not a fan of hot weather.  So, I kind of feel an attraction to the Arctic Circle.

My father was born in Andøya, Vesterålen. Actually you can see the village in the distance on this picture.

The whole of Lofoten and Vesterålen is simply stunning:

Well you really can't classify this Viennese summer 2011 as being really, really hot. July was the coolest we have had here in about 15 years. Our July was more like the cool March weather we have here. I really can't complain since I am not a fan of hot weather. I had more than enough of that growing up back in Los Angeles.  8)

Welcome aboard! I was a former TalkClassical member until I got banned twice...no wait...three times. :) I was JTech82 then Mirror Image and then LatinAmericanClassics, but now I'm just a distant memory. ;)

Anyway, don't be shy. We've got some good, knowledgeable people here.

So hard to find a comfortable niche in the world of classical music posting.  You either have to put up with gnats or giants.  Only one letter and a switch separate the two. ;)
