Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I recently bought this 'Best Of' compiliation of ANgelea Gheorgiu and Roberto Alagna from iTunes with a view to buying the full versions of some of albums.

However, I am hearing a high-pitched 'whistling' sound on many tracks when Alagno sings. Does anyone else have this album, or the originals?

I have an early duets disc from them (EMI) that has no whistling that I can recall. I will try to re-check when I get the chance. Not sure if any of that was used in the set you got.

If it sounds like an irregular tinkling, this is likely to be due to low bit rate - is it 128mbps? If it's a constant, single pitched, high whistling sound, then it's more likely to be in the recording. Would you like to post an example?

Ok. For clarity, this is the disc I have (it's excellent by the way):

I went through several tracks and have not noticed any whistling. The third track, for example, is an aria from Manon. He sings in many places with only soft coverage from the orchestra, and his voice comes across quite crisp and clear. There is some organ in the background at one point. I suppose that could sound like whistling if you had the volume at a low enough setting. If you post the album you have, we may be able to help more. Perhaps there was interference from a different source?
