Those are two of my favourites by Hovhaness.

They're certainly good ones for sure. 8)

I tried Hovhaness a few months back and found it largely too static. Not enough variety in ideas. They just come in large blocks of repeated sound. I was disappointed.

This is a criticism that could be leveled at many composers: Messiaen and Bruckner come to mind.

Hovhaness isn't everyday listening for me and he wouldn't even be in my 'Top 100' composers list, but I do enjoy his works on occasion and they are beautiful when I hear them.

Thanks for sharing that, Karl.

I had seen a few stray videos from this channel before, but since watching this one, I've watched more and, surprise surprise, the algorithm noticed.

I've come to really like his videos and especially appreciate the focus on composers off the beaten path--Martinu, for example. The one on Satie is particularly good (in an enjoyable, even entertaining way), though the subject matter does lend itself to that.

Here's hoping for a Langgaard one.
