Muzition

Hi there!

I'm Muzition.  I'm totally new to this forum, only having heard about it today.  I know a few people who use this forum, so I thought I'd sign up.

I love classical music.  I like a lot of composers.

Nice to have yet another Canadian member on board!  It would be great to do a survey to see how many members of GMG are from which countries?

Welcome, Muzition! I saw your post about the Montreal Symphony's Messiaen performance next week - such a great piece heard live. Enjoy!

I forgot to add:

I studied music at McGill, and I play clarinet. I also write music, but it's not very good.

She likes a lot of the same composers I do. She might as well be my sister.

I know k a rl h e nn i ng, ChamberNut, Mirror Image, and madaboutmahler on Facebook.  It was ChamberNut, I believe, who told me about this forum.

I like Bach, Debussy, Koechlin, Arthur Sullivan, Stravinsky, Mozetich, Harry Somers, Beethoven, Brahms, Chaminade, and many other composers.

Could Somers be one of the first internationally recognized Canadian composers? It is quite difficult to find recordings of his music or, well, any Canadian for that matter, especially early to mid 20th Century composers. I'd wish CBC would release a whole set of Jean Coultard's music. I've been curious to hear more of her music. There are several YouTube videos but those only act as a way to pacify a listener until one can get their hands on a recording.

Canadian composers don't seem to be particularly well-represented on Youtube.

My Youtube channel is youtube.com/emilygclarinet.

By the way, I have a question about this board.  Is it okay to "resurrect" threads that haven't had any activity in a while?  Say I'm in the composer discussion section of the forum, and I want to say something about a composer, but that composer's thread hasn't been posted in in a year.  Can I post in the old thread, or would it be better to begin a new one?

No, go ahead and post in that thread to revive it.  Lots of us, including me, revive old threads!  Go for it.   :)

Canadian composers aren't represented at all. ;) :D

Just a question: Can I start a thread in the "Composing and Performing" section about my Youtube channel?  I have compositions and performances on there.  Or would that be too self-promoting?
