What if that's the arc George wanted for it, all along? . . .

"The Empire Strikes Back" is the best because Lucas was not involved in the screenplay (Lawrence Kasdan and Leigh Brackett) and was not the director (Irvin Kershner).

For the extremely inappropriate South Park episode mentioned earlier:

"Look out, Indy" is right!!!

The set was released this Monday in Finland (whole Europe I think?) and I have been watching one movie per day so episodes I-IV are viewed now (just finished episode IV).

Lucky!

Wrath of Khan

Oh , wait ...

:D

I was going to have a joke option "raiders of the lost ark", mostly because when I asked my brother-in-law his favorite awhile back, he replied "Indiana Jones is the better trilogy." ;D

You know, it probably is, arguably.

It would also be a fun poll-- which is the most overhyped yet ultimately disappointing sequel: Phantom Menace or Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? >:D

Tough call, let's see:

Star Wars - Silly story, great sci-fi/space opera with great opening, great villain, and great ending (well, not the very last scene).

Raiders of the Lost Ark - Silly story, great action film with great opening and one of the greatest chase scenes ever.

Winner: Tie

The Empire Strikes Back - Dark story, great new characters added, one of the greatest plot twists ever.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - Dark story and gruesome action, still silly, annoying sidekick thrown in.

Winner: Empire by a country mile.

Return of the Jedi - Changed to wimpy name from better original name, has critters designed specifically for toy sales, a nice new villain (even less forgiving than the original one!), and a cheesy ending.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Nazis typecast as villains yet again  :'(, a great new character, a preposterous story, but quite funny.

Winner: Crusade.

Overall: Star Wars, on the strength of Empire alone.
The universe is change; life is opinion. - Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

People would rather believe than know - E.O. Wilson

Propaganda death ensemble - Tom Araya

The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus.
Let no such man be trusted.

I voted for the original film. It's a perfect little fairytale, full of great moments.

Empire for me suffers from middle-film syndrome, not having a proper beginning or ending, and these days I find the whole Degobah section interminably excruciating. Luke, stop whining! Yoda, speak in proper sentences! Director, do something interesting with the camera!

Awesome original trilogy quote:
"I love you."  "I know."

What passes for awesome quote in the prequel trilogy:
"Around the survivors a perimeter create."

That is good, probably the best moment in the whole fool six flix . . . and IIRC Ford's response there was his own on-set contribution.

Went there he did. Comment I must.  ;D

Hey, you've got hold of something there! Hang on . . . Yoda is speaking in inverted, German word order!  He's a crumpled old Kraut!

"The Empire Strikes Back" is the best because Lucas was not involved in the screenplay (Lawrence Kasdan and Leigh Brackett) and was not the director (Irvin Kershner).

Lucas' involved was much bigger than people believe. Lucas' story and Lucas' movie. Lucas chose the screenplay writers. Lucas chose the director (he thought Kershner's style is right for the movie. Kershner was also one of Lucas' teacher in USC so they knew each other well). Lucas directed the 2nd camera while making sure on the set kershner is doing things the way he can approve. Lucas is a control freak.

The reason why episodes V and VI are not directed by Lucas himself is that directing episode IV was REALLY exhausting and nerve wrecking for Lucas. He wanted help to make the workload more acceptable with episodes V and VI. Btw, parts of episode III are directed by Spielberg. But everything is approved by Lucas.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

I suppose being a control freak must, of its very nature, be exhausting.
