How is this one Bulldog?

Very good.  You can't go wrong with Weinberg, and Svedlund is a better director than Chmura who conducts on the first three Weinberg discs in the Chandos series.

Thanks, I don't think I own any Weinberg at all. I'll probably pickup all of Svedlund's recordings then.

Gernsheim - Piano Quintet No.1, 2 (Toccata)

I have a soft spot for Gernsheim and have greatly enjoyed that Toccata disc through the Naxos Music Library.  I should acquire the cd and gain the advantage of better sound.

Good way to go.  Another Weinberg disc I love is his Violin Concerto on Naxos that is coupled with the Myaskovsky Violin Concerto.

There's a great Svedlund CD of short concertante works - flute and cello, I think.

The Cello Concerto is unmissable but only on Brilliant Classics (Rostropovich box).

Yes, I've seen this disc. I've heard the Myaskovsky VC before as it was on a recording I bought with Tchaikovsky's VC w/ Repin/Gergiev. Thanks for the recommendation.

Although Repin is a fine performer, I prefer Grubert on Naxos.  He's not as sweet as Repin and uses less vibrato; there were times when Repin's vibrato was quite irritating.

Hmmm...sounds like this disc is a winner, then. By the way, I already bought it. :D

These are all the works - not recordings but works - I've heard multiple times in September:

4 times:
Beethoven: String Quartet No 11, Op 95 "Serioso." Vermeer (2), Endellion, Artemis Quartets (1 each)

3 times:
Atterberg: Symphony No 6. NDR Radio Philharmonic; Ari Rasilainen
Roussel: Le marchand de sable qui passe. Royal Scottish National Orchestra; Stephane Deneve
Ravel: Concerto for the Left Hand. Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, piano; BBC SO, Yan-Pascal Tortelier (2); Claire Chevallier, piano; Anima Eterna, Immerseel (1)

Twice:
Adios Nonino (Astor Piazzolla album). Astoria
Pierné: L'an mil. Choeur Nicolas de Grigny, Lorraine National Orchestra; Jacques Mercier
Rode: Violin Concerto No 6. Friedemann Eichhorn, violin; Jena PO, Nicolas Pasquet [for MusicWeb review]

The truth is that right now I'm in one of those grooves where I go long stretches without duplicating listens. Closest I get is listening to something I heard a couple months ago...

The 2011 leader is the complete Beethoven string quartets by the Vermeer quartet: 37 listens from that box set. Also 25 listens to Deneve conducting Roussel, 22 listens to Boulez conducting Ravel, and 22 listens to the Timpani CD series of composer Jean Cras.

8) Excellent choice there, Brian. This is quite possibly the best performance I've heard of Ravel's Concerto for the left-hand and I've heard almost all of them.
