Due to unforeseen gremlins, work-loads and life, the downtime and forum upgrade will be delayed by 2 weeks.

Apologies to all those who were relying on the forum being down. ;D

Cheers
Rob

Damn...and I was really looking forward to getting a break. Now I'll have to put in more time tomorrow...and on a holiday!!! Life is so unfair.

Geez. Now I have to come up with some ideas to post.

Well, then again, lack of ideas have never stopped me or anyone else from posting. There's always banana to rely upon.

Well my network was upgraded on the 3th, so I figured the downtime would not harm me, when I was on line later that day, I though wow, the upgrade is already done. Not so ;D ;D ;D

Well thanks Rob for staying motivated for keeping this labour of love going.

The forum upgrade is re-scheduled for Monday Oct 17. I expect the forum will be down for up to 24 hours. Then back better than before.

Well, we're back.

The forum software and database has been upgraded to version 2.0.1, the latest version of SMF.

All seems to be in order.

I need to re-install a couple of mods and do a bit or reprogramming to get it back to its previous incarnation.

Known issues:
1. the ASIN mod is not displaying yet - I'll dust off my (very limited) coding skills in the next few days.
2. Only one "Badge" displays per member - so if you are a subscriber as well as a veteran member, only on badges shows up. Again, back to the coding dungeon for me.

Otherwise, its the same old GMG as before, except with a much more secure backbone under the hood.

Apart from the 2 issues mentioned above, all seems to be as before.

If you see a bug, please report it on the Bug thread.

cheers
Rob

That was mighty quick!

EDIT: One other comment - the text box where I enter my message seems to go on without end. It's a box where the right side goes on and on and on and on...

For me, the Reply page is a bit buggy, but the Quick-Reply box is working fine.

I seem to remember there was a toggle to tick . . . don't recall just where.

That was surprisingly quick, Rob.  Easy, too, I hope.  Checking out the infinite reply text box to see if it really does go on forever or if text still wraps but just the box border is missing.  If it really appears to be infinite, I'll know soon.

Yep.  Text doesn't wrap and the page doesn't scroll.  That should encourage us to keep our remarks brief!

Thanks Rob for getting us back online so quickly! :)

Will need to look at the 'text box' issue - there is no right-side border for me at the moment, so I'll stop typing - Dave

Thank you very much, Rob.

Re: the word wrap issue in the reply box, it goes on forever only when I toggle the view (mouse pointer within square brackets). When I turn it off, the line breaks automatically once the cursor reaches the right-hand side edge of the box.

Good find...mine's the opposite: when I toggle the view, the right side border of the text box returns and it works normally.  Or so I presume, not having typed to the edge, yet.  But we'll know NOW!

Works fine with view toggled on.
