XB-70 Valkyrie

Have any of you bought anything good there lately? I bought some Martinu symphonies and a load of Takemitsu (ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ) last year. I still get their weekly e-mail. I would have told them to cancel it, but they are a decent company and I figured they'd have something interesting some day. Well, I received this e-mail yesterday and this looks interesting. Of course i have all this music on CD and LP already but when it comes to Bach, I'm always interested in hearing new performances. Anyway, have any of you heard this:

Bach - Anna Magdalena Notenbuch

http://www.eclassical.com/eclassic/eclassical?page=jul07-2

Complete version of Johann Sebastían Bach's Notenbuch ( Musical
notebook) for Anna Magdalena Bach (Clavierbüchlein 'Little Keyboard
Book' III).

This notebook, the Little Keyboard Book No.3 for voice and keyboard,
was prepared for Bach's second wife Anna Magdalena Bach. In their
happy marriage they had common interest in music, and together they
also had 13 children.

All in all there are 42 pieces in the notebook, including Bist du bei
mir (sample), Willst du mein Herz mir schenken, Partitas Nos. 3 and
6, parts of the two first French suites, as well as other well-known
pieces by J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach and other composers.

The works are performed by German harpsichordist and organist Michael
Behringer (harpsichord and chest organ). Vocal soloists are German
soprano Sibylla Rubens and baritone Johannes-Christoph Happel.

Mr. Darcy

Sorry, XB-70 Valkyrie. I have heard neither the work nor the recording. But, I would be interested to hear your review!

In a related comment (and I don't mean to hijack the thread...), I've had difficulties with downloads from eClassical. I've ordered whole works (and been charged as such) only to discover that a track/movement or two is missing. I know they often combines multiple movements into a single track, but that isn't what I'm talking about here. Sometimes they're just... not there. And, on occasion, some of the mp3s are damaged. Has anyone else encountered this? And, if so, what did you do about it? As XB-70 Valkyrie says, they seem like a good company and I'd like to continue doing business with them. But paying for items never received doesn't make good business sense.

Don

I have that Hanssler set; it's very well played.  The music isn't exactly Bach's best; many of the pieces are earlier versions of works that Bach made famous.

I've never had any problem, but I've only downloaded two things from them so far. I'd just advise contacting them about the problem. I seem to remember they have a money-back guarantee if you have a problem or even if you don't like the music.

Ditto. I've also only used them twice without event, and I'd certainly advise contacting them. They seem serious about what they do, so I'm sure they'll put things right. :)

Definitely e-mail them at support@eclassical.com. I never had any problems of that sort but I did e-mail them once asking that some Reich piece be re-encoded for attacca playing and they were great, first checked if it shoud be attacca in the first place (I wasn't really sure) and then did it in few days and provided me with new links.

I've had a few dozens of orders from them, never had the slightest problem. Now, I nearly always order the accumulations in a big zipfile, so the method of putting single things into a shopping basket and losing one doesn't apply to me. However, I have never had even a single bad MP3, which does apply to my way as well as yours.

Also, you can go back any number of times and download again. If there were files missing from your first attempt, you can download them as individual tracks. If a file was corrupted, you can do the same. Look in the link called (IIRC) "Previous purchases" and there will be links to everything you have ever purchased from them.

And if all else fails, click on the "contact us" link and send an email to Rikard. He will come right to your house and fix your problem, if need be. OK, that was an exaggeration, but he will do whatever it takes to make you happy. :)

Thanks for the advice, everyone, concerning corrupted and/or missing mp3s... :)
