Just to be clear, I'm not in any direct danger from fires. But Canberra is exceptionally good at trapping the smoke (and my part of Canberra is best of all) from the fires to the east, and the south...and the west... And my lungs are definitely feeling the effects after we became the most polluted city in the world twice last week.

So I'm taking a holiday elsewhere. The air in Queensland is (currently!) pristine.

Best of luck and stay safe, my friend.

There comes a point in your life when you realize: Who matters, Who never did, Who won't anymore, And who always will. So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Greetings from sunny Queensland.

You know how I came up here to get away from the smoke and breathe better?

Yeah. I caught a heavy cold. From the timing I probably got it on the plane.

A heavy cold caught in the middle of summer! It could have happened only to you, my friend! (Happened to me once as well.)

I'm glad you're safe --- stay so!

All that smoke was probably overstressing your immune and nasal defense systems. As Karl said, mend quickly!

Thanks everyone. Back home, where the pollution levels have improved to be only Poor to Very Poor instead of Hazardous... and where my father, giving me a lift home from the airport, correctly observed that my part of the city is exceptionally good at trapping the smoke.

But I can't smell it quite so much at the moment.

The good news is that it might rain late tomorrow and is almost CERTAIN to rain the day after. Which people are very, very happy about.

Fergus (Aligreto) has gone a bit quiet. Hope he is ok.

Bit long for a Christmas/New Year holiday break.

Yes, I agree. I sent him a PM but no response. Hope he is ok.

He had a break one or two months ago due to computer problems. I certainly hope it is the same now.

Hi guys. My wife was not very well over Christmas/New Year. All good now and hopefully all is back on track.
