Didn't he pretty much indicate a hiatus?
I finally have the ability to edit my signature again. But no, I've no idea what I want to say here right now.

Indeed he did!

I must have missed that. I only remember him saying he was taking a hiatus from *Petterson*.
I'm sure he'll be back when he's ready to be back.

No cause for alarm as I am indeed taking a hiatus for awhile but not just from Pettersson, but classical music in general. Sometimes these hiatuses last longer than others.

But I'll see you all around soon! Happy summer to all of you.

André! Holy smokes! Long-time, no see! It's great to see you again and have you back in the saddle. I'm on a bit of hiatus myself, but I just wanted to tell you I've missed your contributions.

As it is @AnthonyAthletic's birthday today, I'll say I still miss him!  When I was doing some decluttering I found that Dalek stamp that he turned into a paperweight and sent me.  I still keep it, and I'm known for not keeping things!

We used to swap CD burns (back in the dark ages).

It seemed like I hadn't seen AA around here for ages. I looked at his profile page. His last post was 2018, but "last active" was 2023!

I really hope @TheGSMoeller returns at some point. I miss our chats about Strauss, but also Ives --- both of which we share a huge enthusiasm for and, in fact, it was Greg who started the Ives music celebration he named "The Ives of March", which was a month-long appreciation for all things Charles Ives. I've done my best to carry on this tradition and will continue to do so the best way I can.

Quote from: vandermolen on May 28, 2024, 12:14:09 PMAh yes! The two Johan's  ;D
Greetings! The two Johan's met in person last week in Delft. My life has been rather eventful these past few years. I have published two novels of the rather innovative kind, stylistically and structurally, and intend to write a third one, so that I'll have a trilogy to my name. Music still plays an enormous part in my life. One composer who has become extremely important to me is - Haydn. I have his symphonies on a loop, and they have fruitfully accompanied me during my writing of the second novel. I have come to love Malcolm Arnold, William Alwyn, Madetoja, and other composers, because there is so much excellent music. I don't think I'll have much time anymore for GMG, but since I joined in July 2007 it has a warm place in my heart.

FYI - Malcolm Arnold was a HUGE Haydn fan....!!

So I hear (from the other Johan!) ;D
Always good to hear from you and congratulation on your second novel. The two Johans are clearly both very accomplished authors! I just content myself with the occasional obscure CD booklet note and by writing letters to The Times! ;D

We all do what we can, Jeffrey. Yes, both Johan and I are published authors now, with Christo's 'market' being quite larger than mine...

I just got a reply to my PM to amw. The gist of it is she doesn't find she has much to say about music recently. In any case, I still hope for her return.

I post the album cover on the listening thread and move on. Sometimes, I don't even do that, but I will still like other posts even when I don't feel like contributing.

I respect anyone who prefers to listen and read, rather than discuss. One way of looking at things: here at GMG, and in general, it's good to strike a balance between experiencing music, and reporting on the experience. The proportions are different for everyone.
