I just joined yesterday.  I am 68.  I live in Copenhagen.  My mother and private schools in the US forced classical music on me at an early age.  I abandoned classical music at age 19 for the Beetles.  I abandoned music as a whole in my early 30s.  My children revived me in my early fifties with "Indie" music.  Then I became a "gear freak" and acquired a lot of hi-fi equipment.

Then, 3 years ago, my daughter sent me as a gift the book, The Rest is Noise.  Hmmm.....so I went into town and bought The New England Holiday Symphony (and other pieces) by Charles Ives.  The rest is history....

I enjoy symphonic works and chamber music by Romantic and early modern composers and also solo cello, violin, oboe and clarinet pieces...and almost anything played by Julian Bream and Christian Severt on the guitar.

Welcome! And what an interesting story! Ives is not the usual intro to the genre, but what a way to start again!
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Welcome aboard! You and I have something in common: we both were introduced to classical through the music of Charles Ives. I still love his music after all of these years. Good to see you went a similar route. 8)

Hello, Frihed89, and thanks for sharing that interesting story! And another Ives fan here, too.
