Hoping to start something tonight... perhaps the cello piece! :)

The idea of playing it with her, or just being with her will give me all the inspiration I need I think! :)

Karl - I have the flute/clarinet piece ready to send to you. Could I possibly have your email address again please? I can't get into my google mail account (which I never use ;) ) to find it....

I had just a quick look last night, Daniel.  Just a couple of quick questions : )

The score is concert pitch, yes?  It's brief enough that having both players read from the score is a good idea, but the clarinet will need his line transposed.

By the slashes across the stems, do you just mean double notes (i.e., semi-quavers)?

Thanks!

Oh, silly me for forgetting to transpose the score! ;) Just sending along a transposed score now.
Yes, hope that's alright!

Ok, just sent now. Hope this score is better! :)

Thanks again, Karl! :)

Remembered an idea (that I thought of a little while ago earlier) today. Think it is suitable for the cello piece! Hopefully I'll be able to do some work on that soon! :)

I had been suffering from a composer's block recently, but I think I am recovering now. Starting to get ideas down for a movement for a new work: 'Serenade for Orchestra'. Hopefully will turn out to be a collection of shorter orchestral pieces. The one I am writing now I am thinking of calling 'Reverie'. :)

Also, hoping to upload my most recent orchestral work 'Fantasie', which I completed in April, soon. Looking forward to hearing some opinions on it! :)

Glad that you're knocking the Block, Daniel! And we need to chat about your duet sometime.

Thanks Karl - it feels good to be composing again! :)
Look forward to that. :)

Have spent all of today composing, which feels good considering the composer's block I had been having for the previous few weeks! Composing a miniature orchestral piece, which should hopefully be finished soon. Have also been thinking of ideas for a piano sonata. And also, thinking much about two duets I am going to be writing, soon hopefully! One is a piece for violin and piano, a request from a violinist who was recently a member of the Gewandhaus Orchestra, and I think the Berlin Staatskapelle also. And the other is a piece for cello and piano, for a very special dedicatee. I think I may have mentioned her a few posts back on this thread ;)

Looking forward to it all! :)

Wonderful news, Daniel :) Glad to hear you've recovered from a musical block and you're so inspired now! A Piano Sonata, ah, that's a great idea!! If you compose it, don't forget to send me the score. ;)
Good luck with your new compositions!

I wonder if listening to Tippett helped Daniel recover from his writer's block?

I would imagine so, John! :) Pieces like A Child of Our Time in particular really moved me and gave me much inspiration.

I did, Karlo, and I enjoyed it very much. A very beautiful, wonderful piece. Thank you very much for encouraging me so much to listen to it! :)

Daniel, I listened to some of your works, "Romance for piano" and "Seascapes".

Though I'm not a fan of late-romantic music, it was nice to listen to your works. I like some of the elements of it you use (abrupt chord changes).

Will try some others later.

So cool that a Japanese pianist performed your work. She does it with much dedication. Good promotion for you!
