That's a must as an introduction to 20th C. music, plenty of great stuff in there, although there are some things that could have been chosen more carefully (full Mahler DLVDE instead of full Carmina Burana would have been so nice :-[)

The EMI set is almost entirely orchestral.

Practically no chamber music.

No opera. No electroacoustic.

But a beginner can start anywhere. Essentials need not apply.
