Quote from: Harry on March 11, 2023, 03:59:00 AMEvery CD in this set has a separate booklet explaining in detail the pieces that are recorded. I found it to be quite adequate.
Quote from: vers la flamme on March 20, 2023, 04:33:06 PMDirt cheap copies on eBay at the moment. I like Jean-Efflam, and not just for his cool double barreled name.
Quote from: Dry Brett Kavanaugh on March 20, 2023, 04:57:26 PMAs for Bartok PCs, personally, Gyogy Sandor (Sony, not Vox) and Kovacevich sound good to me. Also, I like the old recordings of Anton Dikov though the sound quality is merely acceptable. If you don't need all the 3 PCs, the PC no.3 plus VC by Karel Ancerl would be a good choice.
Quote from: Madiel on March 11, 2023, 03:41:09 AMNot talking about this for the first time, but Florian Uhlig's Schumann set, as a box.I'm interested in the presentation of the box. Does it have a good booklet with all of the essays of the separate volumes? Or is it just the separate volumes in a case? This might have been discussed before, but I can't find the discussion.I'm pretty sure that @Harry bought it. Anyone else?
Quote from: Wanderer on March 20, 2023, 11:21:23 PMThe set I was sent from jpc.de (ordered when it first came out last year) consisted of all the separate CD volumes, with their big plastic cases, booklets and all, in a cardboard case. The type that takes as much space as buying all the CD volumes separately. Recently, however (at a FNAC in Paris, if the location makes any difference in packaging), I saw it (re?-)packaged as a "normal", very much smaller boxset (with sleeve-type envelopes for the CD's - possibly just one booklet for everything).
Quote from: Madiel on March 21, 2023, 12:58:12 AMWell in fact JPC has 2 different listings for the same thing, and the pictures for them look different. This one looks quite fat, with writing on the top: https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/robert-schumann-saemtliche-klavierwerke/hnum/10972095This one looks thinner: https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/robert-schumann-saemtliche-klavierwerke/hnum/11056861I thought it was bit odd, and the 2 listings are the same price. But also, if you look carefully one says it is 19 CDs, and the other says it's 19 CDs and a CD-ROM. So I suspect the thinner one is where you don't get the full printed booklets and the information gets moved to the CD-ROM.For JPC it's not clear if the "limited edition" with full booklets will even be available. But at least now I'm aware there are 2 alternative versions.
Quote from: Harry on March 21, 2023, 12:29:22 AMSome time ago I started with double sided plastic sleeves, in which 2 CD's will easily fit plus the booklet, and the backside art. Imported them from the States and more than halves the Schumann box. A reduction in space of about 75%, which is considerable. I have since 10 years experience with these sleeves, so you may safely buy them without hesitation, if your aim is to reduce the space needed for your CD collection.
Quote from: Wanderer on March 21, 2023, 01:30:07 AMWhat brand are these, Harry? I would be interested in something like that eventually, but not if I had to import them from outside the EU. The cost (not to mention re-packaging and storing effort) involved would be considerable. If that's the case even with an intra-EU solution, I'll probably feel I'd rather buy more music. 😉
