Thanks! So that confirms which Iberia they used (as I suspected) and probably helps me cross-check some other small pieces.

I've now been able to work out that the 4 "Double Decca" sets of Spanish piano music end up corresponding almost perfectly to 8 and a half albums of de Larrocha released in the 1970s and the first half of the 1980s. Half an album of Scarlatti gets cut out. The way that they line up, I'm now very confident as to which recordings these are.

They're quite scrambled in the compilations compared to the original, but in ways that actually tend to be quite sensible.

I might see what's the cheapest way of getting all or most of the material. It seems that one time all of the double Deccas were combined into a single box, though that might not be easy to find.

And this is just her solo Spanish music. There were orchestral compilations as well...

This is Elgar so I might not get m(any) reply(es), but I'd like to know if this version of the most beautiful violin concerto ever written has been heard here at GMG ?

After hearing her perform the Elgar concerto live a few weeks ago here in my hometown Bruges I bought the cd. I only knew the Nigel Kennedy recording of the 80s until now but Vilde Frang's interpretation is much better. The attention to detail and interaction with the orchestra is just baffling.
The first half of life is spent in longing for the second, the second half in regretting the first.

That's it: I'm buying it, dammit !!

Well, any thoughts on the new Haydn Symphony box w/ Thomas Fey followed by Johannes Klumpp conducting the the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra - just released and going for 69 Euros sale price at the moment at JPC (59 Euros for me in the USA + about 7 Euros shipping) - the Adam Fischer box has been in my collection for decades, added the first 10 volumes of Antonini and own a few more London sets - looking forward to some comments, especially how Klumpp has 'filled Fey's shoes'?  Dave

I haven't heard the Klumpp, but I've ordered on the basis of the Fey recording which, speaking for myself, are the best ever.
Formerly Scarpia, Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Parsifal, perhaps others.

Here's a question for people who live in or purchase from Asia.

Would there be a Japan specific edition of the Haitink complete Concertgebouw set? Or would it be identical to the version sold in Western countries (North America, Europe).

Amazon Global store has the best price, shipping from Japan, but I have the nagging worry that there is an edition where CD sleeves have listings in Japanese, etc.

Well, I ordered the Fey-Klumpp box the day after my post above - the price at JPC was just too good (59 Euros for USA) - also added the 3 Kozeluch CDs attached, on sale for 4 Euros each, which will complete Kemp English's entire 12 disc recordings in my collection.  ;D  Dave

I've ordered a couple of things from Amazon Japan via Amazon US. Nothing Japan specific about the products sent.

Re-considering.....even though there is a fair amount of singing.

I just think there might be more here to love than I initially first thought, as I'm warming up the sound of the vihuela, and there are discs with the more modern guitar as well. I know there are a number of members who swear on their children's lives that this is a "must have".  >:D

I could swear it on your children, if you have them?  8) The main emphasis in the set is on Renaissance and (particularly) Baroque musique, with a fair amount of songs. Full enjoyment depends on liking both. If you don't like either, I wouldn't recommend it.

What's the opinion on this one? Not familiar with the work previously, and the additional Respighi piece is tempting. There are two separate reviews on MusicWeb International, one of them very positive and the other more scathing, so not sure what to believe. Happens to be rather cheap at the moment at JPC

Not at all familiar with the recording but Respighi's concertos are well worth exploring on their own merit.
