Any fans or detractors of this? Should I buy if I don't have any recordings of NV and only two of Konzertmuzik (Lenny/Sony and Steinberg)?

I'd venture further and say that the Albert CPO and Blomstedt performances are also better than Janowski. I generally like Janowski's conducting, but I don't find him to be too inspiring in Hindemith.

No one did Hindemith better than Hindemith.



There's also a DG collection of Hindemith conducting Hindemith.

I also have the cpo complete edition, which are generally very good and in good sound. The other great set is the Chailly recordings of the Kammermusik.

For a modern sound Nobilissima Visione consider Blomstedt (Decca, will get you another Brass/strings op.50 and Schwanendreher viola concerto) or Kegel (a double on Berlin Classics with Mathis symphony, Symphony in Eb, Trumpet concerto, Sinfonia serena).

There's several great sets of Hindemith out there. The Kammermusik series has been recorded several times for example.

This is where I got the tracklist, but I didn't observe, that they had one for sale.
A pity, because Bernard Brauchli seems to be a well respected musician among connaisseurs.

Yes, beautiful indeed. Because of the virtues of this CD I purchased some years ago his French suites, but they are faceless and disappointing, particularly the ones he plays on clavichord..

No! If you don't own Boulez, Martinon, Haitink or Cluytens in this repertoire, then you should consider them first. There's also a nice box set on Naxos:

Except for the Cluyten, I have everything you said and a few other sets. I guess you don't have good opinion on the Vox sets. The Naxos box is a fun music.

Yeah, I mean Vox has done some good work, but it's kind of like would I rather drive a Lamborghini or a beat up old falling apart Pontiac that only has three wheels? BIS has a great Debussy orchestral series under Lan Shui that's worth looking into as well.
