I don't know if I can agree with you about Night Court vs Frasier. Cheers/Frasier is at the top of my favorite sitcom list. I haven't seen a Night Court episode in many, many years so I'm not sure how I'd respond to it now. I loved it back in the day, as I did Taxi...but I happened to see a Taxi episode a few months ago for the first time after...god,  three decades!...and it failed to amuse me (other than the short Latka bit). I wonder if Night Court would likewise fail. Many older shows do now.

What Taxi has going for it is a great ensemble.  I think that only Christopher Lloyd makes me laugh, but you like all of the characters.

I think that Night Court is funnier than Taxi and it holds up reasonably well... but it's no Cheers.

I like Night Court pretty good, but I don't rate it as high as I do Frasier, which is one of my favorite sitcoms of all-time next to Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Becker, and Wings.

I've only seen a couple of episodes of Becker and have never seen Wings. Coincidently, I just watched a Family Guy episode (season 5 episode 5, "Whistle While Your Wife Works") in which Quagmire gets pissed off at his drinking buddies because none of them can remember Wings  :D

Since you started another list, I can't resist. My Top 10 sitcoms of all-time:

The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis 1959-63
Newhart 1982-90 (the one set in Vermont)
Cheers 1982-93
Married with Children 1987-97  (Yes, I'm embarrassed to admit this  ;D )
Seinfeld 1990-98
Frasier 1993-2004
Friends 1994-2004
Arrested Development 2003-2006
The IT Crowd 2006-?
Community 2009-?  (although Alison Brie's superstructure may be unduly influencing me  ;D )

Seriously, Community's Paintball episodes alone place it in the Top 10 best televsion of all-time.

If cartoons are included: South Park and Family Guy would have to find their way onto the list.

You should feel ashamed about being embarrassed!  Al Bundy is one of the great sitcom characters.
The universe is change; life is opinion. - Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

People would rather believe than know - E.O. Wilson

Propaganda death ensemble - Tom Araya

Now I'm doubly embarrassed...as well as being ashamed.

I have a special relationship with The Regal Beagle. I love the atmosphere of sit-com bars. Ahhhh....

Wings was another show where I like the characters but it could have been funnier.  These kind of shows are like comfort shows. ;D

Okay, this is embarrassing, and I am ashamed...and that's why it wasn't posted in the more public Last Movie You Watched thread: I recently finished a marathon viewing of the third and fourth seasons of Three's Company. Since Suzanne Somers was canned during the Fifth season, I won't be going beyond the fourth.

Black Books I own, know, and...well, not exactly love. It's a little too dark to love unreservedly. You mentioned comfort shows. This is the anti-comfort show. But yeah, I do like it.

Spaced and Coupling...don't even know them by name. Will have to investigate.

You absolutely must watch Coupling Sarge-- you'll love it!!  I know you will!  The UK version btw not the US remake that flopped. :)
