An ideal event in Sheffield would be:

Opening: Rite of Spring
Followed by: A Punk Concert
Followed by: Snooker Championship Final O-Sullivan vs. Trump

Venue: Cucible! Ha!
Sounds like a great night to me springrite! :D

Many thanks for all your welcomes!
This seems nice and friendly forum.
I hope you all wont mind all the dull and pathetic questions i'll be asking in future, even though you'll have answered them hundreds of times before!! ;)
Sorry for asking stupid questions!

Hello.  Just remember that we were all at one time beginners, and needed to ask dull and pathetic questions.  So ask away.

Well, most beginners don't have the comprehensive punk education enabling a head first dive into Le Sacre, so our friend here is way ahead of most!
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum and new to classical music.
I do like all kinds of music but my true love is Punk and Post-Punk.
I know it is a million miles away from Classical music but i've fallen for Classical music in a big way.

Hello sheffmark.
I like punk too, but not post-punk, although pre-punk punk (New York Dolls, et al) does it for me too.  I grew up with John Lydon, Jimmy Pursey and SLF as major idols and air song/guitar heroes...alas I am 46 now, and with my baldy head and fat wee belly would look perfectly stupid doing the pogo...so I air conduct instead.
Aren't you lucky to join GMG in your new Classical Music interest.  Although controversy arises, you will find all kinds of Classical Music discussed and recommended here.  If you're still uncertain, you can listen things up in Spotify or any other major streaming music provider to see if the GMG posts fit your reception of the music.  It is a big exploration sheffmark (Mark?) and you are going to love it.
Stay, and enjoy.  Its about time we had a poster from the Steel City.  There are three major orchestras in Sheffield which are rarely pressed to CD, hard to understand how this can be given that Sheffield is one of Englands largest cities.  Look forward to watching your adventure unfold.

You like the same bands as me but i'd add The Clash and Buzzcocks to my loves and 70s Bowie also! :)
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!! :D
